Turbulence Physics and Computational Research Lab
Department of Aerospace Engineering
Indian Institute of Science
Bengaluru, India

The Turbulent Physics & Computational Research Laboratory at the Indian Institute of Science is led by Prof. Rishita Das. Our lab specialises in exploring and modelling the complexities of turbulent flows. Leveraging high-fidelity numerical simulations and advanced data-driven methods, we develop improved physical understanding and accurate models for optimised design and control of complex turbulent flows in Aerospace.
Our Focus Areas
At TPCRL, we work on advanced research problems concentrated
around the following key areas:
Turbulence Physics
Turbulent flow as a multiscale
complex system
Compressible Turbulent Shear Flows
Shock-wave interaction with turbulence and shear layers
Computational Fluid Dynamics
Direct numerical simulations (DNS) &
Large-eddy simulations (LES)
Information Theory
Nonlinear causal dependence between
flow processes
Machine Learning
High-accuracy data-driven models of complex non-local flow phenomena governing turbulence
Nonlinear Dynamics
Extreme events prediction and
Characterising Intermittency
“Turbulence is the dynamic order in chaos,
that plays a vastly critical role in Aerospace
& several other fields”
